About P3

Helping children and families go from trauma to triumph

The overarching goal of P3 is to connect impacted families with services that improve their skills for coping with trauma and ultimately place them on the pathway to prosperity.  Community partners will conduct monthly educational symposiums teaching community members about resources available that will ease social, emotional and financial burdens.

Why P3 Preschool PTSD is necessary

We have identified the rising problem of children in at-risk communities that have lost loved ones to violence and ongoing trauma from violence on the south and west sides of Chicago

How does the program work?

Through a pre-screening assessment outlined and approved by the State of Illinois, suspected children will be determined eligible for referral to our affiliated agencies for comprehensive services.

“Train The Trainers”

P3 and its associates have gone through an intense training program designed by The Pyramid Model Consortium (PMC).  The learning objectives were:

Understanding of trauma and trauma informed systems

Identify strategies to assist staff and early care education programs to become more trauma-informed

Identify strategies to increase staff and families’ awareness of ACES (Adverse Childhood Experience)

“Trainings will be provided to willing sites and providers that would like to become a part of the solution to ending childhood PTSD.”

Tamera Fair

One day Tamera wanted to make God laugh so , she told him her life plan. The plan was to leave a legacy as an advocate and educator of children. For over twenty years, she served as CEO to a chain of successful child care facilities in the Chicagoland area. Her degrees in English from Fisk University and graduate degree from National Louis University in Early Childhood Leadership and Advocacy, reflect her preparation for her plan. God responded to her, “I’m not through with you.” “Get ready, things are about to change.”

Latonja Brown

For more than 15 years Latonja has worked in the field of early childhood and watched the successful development of young minds. A mother of four, she dedicates her life to helping not only her own but the hundreds of children that she provides care for. Latonja has seen so many children that are suffering from PTSD with no one to provide them the emotional support to help them not only cope, but to excel in all areas of life. Latonja has joined forces with legislators that fight for early childhood. She’s participated in rallies, peaceful protest and is no stranger to speaking to decision makers in Springfield.
